Foundations of Success Cont'd

In conclusion.

All foundations were applied on a freshly moisturised face. I never applied any primer underneath as i wanted to see how the foundation would work without it. I kept all foundations on for at least eight hours and the samples i was given were used until finished however; even though i am not 100% sure, using the Max Factor Face Finity coincided with me developing a rash on my face. I do usually stay away from high street products for this reason.

If you noticed that some foundations i tried are from the same brand, well that's because they do a number of foundations and i wanted to try them. I tried some others but at the counter such as Touche Eclat foundation on the back of my hand. I found it to be far too runny and didn't have any real coverage. This has been reported by many bloggers as well. As i do not have perfect skin, i will be avoiding that one. I also tried Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation because it was reported to be like Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua. I found no comparison at all, not even in the ingredients used. No that's a lie, they both contained water. Bourjois had a very heavy fragrance of fruits,(It would probably clash with any perfume you may wear)  even though it was not unpleasant, it worried me, because it had far too much fragrance in it and although Chanel foundations are also fragranced, it is not that heavy in any of the foundations they make. The Bourjois foundation was also quite thick in texture and sat on top of my skin and it still felt tacky, even after 10 minutes. I also found it to have a slightly orange tint to it that a lot of high street foundations have, (cheap colourings used due to price point). I read a review on it from a blogger who had had a severe allergic reaction to it after using it for two weeks. Please be careful when buying high street foundations if you have sensitive skin and always try to get a sample were possible. High end foundations use none allergenic ingredients, which usually cost more, hence the higher price but save you from a trip to the doctors for Hydro-cortisone cream and the embarrassment of puffed up eyes and a red patchy face.

Clinique Even Better Foundation SPF15 30ml/£23.00

Indications

Designed to combat hyper pigmentation and deliver brighter skin, immediately and overtime. Medium coverage, mineral enriched, long wearing and anti ageing

The Good

It had a rich moisture cream feel to it which was nice. Skin felt soft and smooth and it covered my blemishes well. It didn't settle into my fine lines either and lasted without going patchy on my face. Very pleased with this one. The redness solutions foundation is also very good for covering redness as well. This is a good one for winter for my skin. Nice natural shade as well and great for the price.

The Bad and the Ugly Truth

Did feel like i was wearing foundation. I prefer light weight foundations personally. I had to powder  down very well because it felt a bit tacky on my skin. I wanted it to set a bit quicker. After 3 hours wear my t-zone was very shiny. This  is going to fantastic for people with dry skin but not oily skin. Only minor points here, overall a great foundation.                                                                                                       9/10

Indications

A custom fit foundation to work with your skin throughout the day. It is matte where needed and moisturises in dry parts of the skin. Giving a smooth flawless finsh with imperfections concealed.

The Good

A small amount needed to give a gorgeous velvety smooth finish to my skin. My skin looked so flawless with this. I bought this one because i have the powder version to, which i use in the summer. Both are fantastic. This one covers imperfections and did not settle into my lines either.

The Bad and the Ugly Truth

You have to be careful on how much you pump out of the bottle to avoid wasting any.

Diorskin Nude Natural Glow Foundation.SPF15 30ml/£31.00

Indications

Made with Mineral and floral water to hydrate and add radiance to the skin and increase elasticity. Created to give bare skin effect.

The Good

Does allow the skin to breath and feels super light weight. Nice satin finish with really great natural shades. Is buildable but i don't understand the point. If you need to build a foundation, you are using the wrong one for your particular needs.

The Bad and the Ugly Truth

Settled into my fine lines and made them look more prominent. My skin didn't feel all that hydrated either. This foundation was probably designed with younger women in mind and for people with a flawless complection. (In other words, people who don't need it)  I needed to apply a lot of concealer with this one. What a shame!

                                                                                                                                         7/10

Indications

Flawless second skin foundation works with the skin to give soft radiation, Natural textile fibres fused with polymers to give skin a natural appearance. Suitable for all skin types, medium coverage and natural finish.

The Good

This gave my skin a lovely flawless finish. My skin felt lovely and soft, no drying at all. Didn't settle into any of my fine lines at any point. No heavy feel, even though it gives great coverage and covers blemishes well. A little goes a long way. Water like feel which melts into skin.

The Bad and the Ugly Truth

Very expensive. Has a fairly heavy fragrance but this did not cause any irritation to my skin and i have very sensitive skin

                                                                                                                                     9.5/10

Indications

Super blendable foundation with good coverage without caking. True to skin shades . Perfect match with the colour and texture of your own skin. Has warm and neutral shades and is oil free.

The Good

Shade was quite nice although it was a sample. Its very cheap with sheer coverage. Didn't highlight my fine lines or pores on my face.

The Bad and the Ugly Truth

How long have you got? Started drying and setting on my face as soon as it hit my skin which made it hard to blend. Resulting in a patchy finish. My skin felt tight and dry. Needed to use a lot of concealer to cover imperfections.  Started to wear off after two hours . Proof you do only get what you pay for i think.

                                                                                                                                      4/10

Indications

The Good.

I love how this looks on my face. Lovely smooth finish and does not settle into fine lines either. All  Chanel lumiere products work really well with my skin. Never thinned out on my t zone either. Lasted really well and does firm face up slghtly without feeling tight. Gorgeous shade. Has an eye concealer to match as well.

The Bad and the Ugly Truth

Does feel like you are wearing foundation with this one. One of Chanel's more expensive ones.

                                                                                                                                          9/10

Indications

Long wear 15 hours to be exact. Works with your skin throughout the day to remain perfect. Light texture with adjustable coverage and many universal shades.

The Good

I really liked the matte finish on this. It did not feel drying in any way. My skin felt the same throughout the whole day as well. My t zone did not shine at all with it either. In fact i would say that this one really does adjust throughout the day Did not settle into any of my fine lines either. I did not wear it for 15 hours but it lasted for 8 hours very well. Great natural shade. Fantastic for combination skin types.

The Bad and the Ugly Truth

Quite expensive. Can be off putting when you first apply it because it looks very matte to start with but that does disappear during the day.  I probably  may not recommend this for very dry skin though.

                                                                                                                                  8.5/10

Indications

Made to stay put all day long. Long wearing. Breathable and comfortable through heat and humidity without changing colour or fading. Matte Finish

The Good

This is a nice colour and wears quite well on the skin. Good coverage and doesn't settle into fine lines either. I don't really suffer with foundations oxidising too much on my skin anyway, so i don't worry about that. Good price.

The Bad and the Ugly Truth

It did wear off my t-zone within the first three hours, which surprised me because of its claims. I would have to re touch at least once during the day
